Georgine Guillory
Georgine is a third-generation entrepreneur and a 2000 graduate of Lamar University with a degree in Applied Arts and Sciences. She has been the owner for forty-four years of Revues, a full-service salon in Beaumont, as well as the commissioner for the Port of Beaumont. She decided to go back earn her degree while working full-time because she saw the additional opportunities available in a person’s career with a college education.
She always felt that LU was a good fit for her as it wasn’t only local, it offered a nurturing atmosphere and had a lot of opportunities. When asked what her favorite thing was about the university during her time on campus, she answered, “The available resources, approachable professors and a great community.”
She enjoys being an entrepreneur and owning her own business while also having the chance to serve as commissioner of the port. She advises anyone going into business to know your craft and competitors, to create a clear business plan and to be realistic about outgoing and incoming cash flow.
